X is for Xenosaurus newmanorum

When finding a threatened species beginning with ‘X’ it was fortunately incredibly difficult! Xenosaurus newmanorum is the latin name of this species, it’s real name is Newman's Knob-scaled Lizard. A prehistoric looking lizard, whose family Xenosauridae diverged from all other living reptiles more than 85 million years ago! A major threat to it’s Mexican habitat is forest conversion for coffee plantations, which is destroying their natural habitat.
